Camping is about taking a break from everyday life and just relaxing and recharging your batteries outdoors. Many campers now want to try country campgrounds where there is no electricity - just you and the outside. It may seem overwhelming at first, but when you know what to do and how to deal with different situations, you'll find that camping without electricity is even more useful!
Become one with nature and relax at the very back with these tips for beginners in electric camping!
Prepared
The key to a successful trip is preparation. This is even more important if you have traditionally planned camp. Make sure you research the campsite you choose. You know there is no electricity, but is there a water source? Where is the nearest place to seek help in an emergency?
Also, make sure you pack properly to cover everything - everything you need to sleep, cook, eat, shower and have fun. It would be very useful if you could create a checklist and use it when packing.
Plan your meal
Plan your meals ahead of time and keep things simple. Think about the lack of energy, so cook over a campfire, grill, or electric stove, whichever you prefer. Plan your meals for the day during your trip and choose easy-to-prepare recipes. If possible, do most of the preparation at home. Pack your cooler properly and don't forget to cook perishable products first.
If you plan to cook on a fire, make sure you have everything you need to cook it.
Bring drinking water
In the back, if there is no electricity, usually there is no source of drinking water. It is important to ensure that the location you choose has a water source. If so, it's usually fine to shower and wash dishes, but not to drink.
Bring enough clean drinking water for your entire trip. You can carry water in gallons or in smaller individual bottles.
Wear a light source
You need a light source to move around the campsite, especially at night. You can light a bonfire, but you can't move it or carry it into your tent. Be sure to bring a flashlight, lantern, candle and extra batteries.
Keep warm
No matter what time you camp, it's important to be prepared for cold nights. Wear wool sweaters, wool socks, thick blankets, extra bedding, bedding, and a thermal sleeping bag.
Camping without electricity gets easier all the time - just follow these simple but effective tips!
